How to apply

You must be a student in a university course of studies in the fi elds of engineering, regenerative energy, chemistry, physics or another area of studies dealing with the topics surrounding photovoltaics. Your practice-oriented and theoretically grounded dissertation, thesis, diploma thesis or doctorate must deal with a topic regarding photovoltaics or related topics from systems technology, nanotechnology, general energy technology, crystallography and engineering subjects.

Your scientific final paper in German or English must have been evaluated between June 2012 and April 2013. The submission deadline is April 30, 2013. A jury of renowned photovoltaic experts nominated by SolarWorld AG will make final award determinations. The judge‘s decision is final.    

To qualify for eligibility, you must fill out an appli cation form on the website www.einstein-award.com and upload your CV and a synopsis (maximum two pages each) of your final paper as a zip file. In the synopsis, apart from a short outline of the work, you should emphasize the innovative content of the topic and describe the relevance to photovoltaics.

The jury will make a pre-selection based on the synopses. Short-listed researchers will be asked, within four weeks after the application deadline, to send in their complete final paper. Finalist will be invited to spend on day in Freiberg, Germany. There they will learn about the whole photovoltaic production chain from silicon to solar modules and get to know the modern laboratories and pilot lines of SolarWorld. They also will introduce themselves and their research topic in a lecture.
